In 2006 Asli left her home in Somalia because of a dangerous civil war. When she was forced to leave Somalia she went to a refugee camp in Mombasa, Kenya. From Mombasa she went to Nairobi and then to Kakuma, another refugee camp in Kenya before finally coming to Spokane in July of 2016. Asli speaks Somali, some Arabic some Swahili and is currently going to school to learn English. She enjoys cooking, cleaning and learning English.
